Askania was founded in Berlin in 1871 and was at that time mainly known for the production of state-of-the-art presentation devices for marine, observatories, research and expeditions. Initially, the focus was on shipping, with the invention of the planes, the attention was also paid to on-board watches and altimeters. So the on-board and wristwatches from Askania were also companions of Elly Beinhorn on their record flights. Later, the film industry from Askania were even supplied with film processing and cinema devices.
